General Information:
The Dowling Jazz Band has a strong tradition of excellence. The jazz program at Dowling consists of 3 bands. Jazz Ensemble is the top competitive jazz group made up of the most experienced players. Membership in Jazz Ensemble is a privilege. Rehearsals for Jazz Ensemble during marching season (through Oct. 10) will be Tuesday evenings (listed below) from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm and Thursday during Seminar. Following marching season jazz /stage rehearsals will move to 7:00am A, B, and C days as per the Jazz/Stage Schedule.

Performances 2007-2008
The jazz bands have been the musical ambassadors of Dowling. Individuals, parishes, corporations, and branches of city, and state government routinely request music by the jazz bands. The band staff accept invitations based on the merit of the performance and the feasibility of the date. Members will be polled about their availability when legitimate requests are received. The staff will make every attempt to give members two weeks notice of any additional gigs. Standing gigs for the big bands will include:

Warm-up Procedure (7:00 Start Time)
6:50 Members in the room buzzing mouthpiece, wetting reed, long tones, use tuner, getting drum set in place, bass Amp set up and plugged in , stands moved.
