The Dowling Catholic Concert Band
The Dowling Catholic Concert Band - conducted by Mr. Nicholas Hoover is made up of 9th and 10th graders and is considered the core of the band curriculum. The musical opportunities and experiences that can be explored in this medium are invaluable. The concert band is committed to performing repertoire that is educational and musical in quality, and to perform music that gives students the opportunity to express themselves through the medium of music. This course focuses on continued growth in sound and technique through a specific warm-up routine involving scales, articulation exercises, pitch centering through singing, and tuning. Also taught are higher-level musical skills involving balance and blend, timbre, and musical expression.
